The Community Action Plan is a scheme for creating community change by specifying what will be done, who will do it and how will it be done. It is a unique idea because it is the local community which sets the priorities. The programs outcomes and goals follow directly the community assessment and vision. Goals, objectives and strategies are building blocks to make sure that you produce the desired outcomes and are ways to hold each other accountable.

The Community Action Plan is a seven stage process:

  1. Stage 1 residents' survey to establish the importance and priority of the factors which affect the local economy, social and environment well-being in the community.
  2. Identify the priority top ten factors from the data received.
  3. Use your comments to formulate answers to these issues.
  4. Stage 2 residents' survey to establish your preferences in these solutions.
  5. Write a Community Action Plan.
  6. Stage 3 residents' survey gaining agreement for the Community Action Plan.
  7. Action the plan in partnership with the Local Authority.
